Without the use of a single steel bar or nail, these structures rise from the ground in shapes reminiscent of wine bottles, flickering flames, and blooming flowers, blending seamlessly with the surrounding nature to create a landscape often described as a "Magic Castle" or an "Artistic Utopia".

The Kaleidoscope Art Museum

The soul of Dongfengyun is the Kaleidoscope Art Museum (Wanhuatong Art Museum). Designed by the renowned local artist Luo Xu, who was born in Mile, this architectural marvel is inspired by the uninhibited spirit of the local Yi people (specifically the Axi branch) and their reverence for fire. The building's design abstracts the concept of "red wine" and "fire" characteristic of Mile. Its exterior resembles an arrangement of massive red wine bottles, while the overall form mimics the rising flames of a bonfire, symbolizing the passionate "Axi Dance of the Moon." Inside, the structure relies on the principles of geometry and mechanics to stand firm. The hollowed-out brick walls allow natural sunlight to filter in, creating a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow that shifts throughout the day, offering visitors a profound sense of space and artistic transcendence.

Half-Cloud and The Seal

Another significant cluster is the "Seal" (Yinzhang) area, a group of buildings laid out like a massive seal stamp. These structures combine the chaotic beauty of rustic aesthetics with the order of geometric design, hosting various cultural exhibitions and artistic workshops. Walking through these architectural clusters feels like navigating a labyrinth of art, where every turn reveals a new perspective of brick and sky.

A Sea of Flowers

Beyond the architecture, Dongfengyun is famous for its romantic landscapes. At the foot of the red brick castles lies a vast expanse of Flower Fields. Depending on the season, this area transforms into a sea of purple lavender (reminiscent of Provence), lilies, or other seasonal blooms.
