7-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Lanzhou → Xiahe (230km)
Depart from Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province. Drive south into the Tibetan Plateau, witnessing the dramatic change in landscape and culture. Arrive in Xiahe in the afternoon and visit the magnificent Labrang Monastery, one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries outside of Tibet. Explore its long prayer wheel corridor and impressive halls.

Day 2: Xiahe Exploration (Local Day)
A full day to explore the surroundings of Xiahe. In the morning, visit the vast Sangke Grassland, where you can experience the nomadic lifestyle (horse riding optional). In the afternoon, drive to the impressive White Cliff Monastery (Bai Shiya Si) and the nearby scenic canyon, a site of great natural and spiritual significance.

Day 3: Xiahe → Langmusi Town (180km)
Drive from Xiahe towards the famous border town of Langmusi. En route, stop at Gahai Lake, a beautiful freshwater lake and nature reserve, perfect for bird watching and landscape photography. Arrive in Langmusi and visit the Gansu-side monastery (Sertri Monastery), also known as Langmusi Monastery, which offers stunning views over the town.

Day 4: Langmusi Town Exploration (Local Day)
Explore the unique twin-town of Langmusi, straddling the Gansu-Sichuan border. Hike through the beautiful Namo Gorge, following a clear stream to its source. Day 5: Langmusi → Zoige → Tangke (150km)
Drive east into Sichuan Province, traversing the immense Zoige Grassland, one of the largest alpine wetlands in the world. Visit the stunning Flower Lake (Huahu), a shimmering plateau lake. Continue to Tangke and in the late afternoon, visit the First Bend of the Yellow River. Climb to the viewing platform for a spectacular sunset over the river's sweeping curves.

Depart Tangke and drive south. En route, make a stop at Waqie Pagoda Forest, a solemn and photogenic site with hundreds of white stupas and colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Continue your journey to Aba County (Ngawa), a major town in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, where you can rest and prepare for the mountain adventure the next day.
