1.Located at the northern foot of Gaolan: Mountain in the southern part of Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, Wuquan Mountain Park serves as a vital ecological and cultural sanctuary for the city. Situated just 3 kilometers from the city center, this expansive park covers an area of approximately 268,000 square meters. Rising to an elevation of about 1,600 meters, it is celebrated as the "Famous Garden of Longshang" and a premier leisure destination for locals and tourists alike. As a National 4A-level Tourist Attraction and a provincial cultural relic protection unit, the park offers a serene escape from the urban bustle, featuring a harmonious blend of natural springs, ancient architecture, and lush forestry.
The Legend of General Huo Qubing
2.The history of Wuquan: Mountain is deeply entwined with the legendary Western Han Dynasty general, Huo Qubing. According to local folklore, in 121 BC, General Huo led his army on a western expedition against the Xiongnu. Upon reaching the foot of Gaolan Mountain, his soldiers were exhausted and parched, but no water could be found. In a display of martial prowess and divine providence, General Huo whipped the mountainside five times with his horsewhip. Miraculously, five springs gushed forth from the rock to save his army. This legend gave the mountain its name, "Wuquan" (Five Springs), and the water is historically referred to as "General Spring".
