Originally built around 1779, the mansion was the administrative and political center for the Uyghur rulers of Turpan for several generations. While the original structures suffered damage over time, the current mansion was meticulously restored in the 21st century on its original site to preserve its historical grandeur.

The mansion’s architecture is a vivid example of "multi-ethnic unity," featuring a grand entrance gate with twin green-tiled towers and unique stone lions, which are rare in traditional Uyghur buildings and symbolize the fusion of central and local authority. Internally, the complex is centered around the Great Hall, or Royal Hall, where the rulers conducted official business. The interiors are adorned with exquisite carvings and paintings featuring local motifs such as grapes, flowers, and geometric patterns in vibrant shades of green and gold.
