The Golden Stupa of the Himalayas

The Legend of the Holy Water

In Tibetan Buddhism, particularly within the Nyingma school, this glacier is revered as the mandala of the protective deity Dorje Phagmo (Vajravarahi). Local legends describe the glacial lakes as "Guan Yin’s Tears" or "Water of Life," believed to possess healing properties bestowed by the great master Padmasambhava. Historically, this area has been a destination for pilgrimage. Devotees travel here to circumambulate the lakes and drink the holy water, believing it can wash away sins and bring good fortune. The glacier is also famous in modern times as the high-altitude source of the well-known "5100 Tibet Glacier Mineral Water," adding a layer of contemporary fame to its ancient sanctity.
The Three Holy Lakes
2.The Qudeng Nima: Glacier complex is defined by three distinct glacial lakes, often referred to as the West Holy Lake, the East Holy Lake, and the Copper Lake, each fed by massive ice tongues descending from the mountains.

After a hike over a hillside, visitors are greeted by a jade-green lake where a massive glacier tongue extends directly into the water.
