The hot spring is renowned for its high water temperature and exceptional water quality. It is the only natural geothermal spring found in the Qaidam Basin. The water gushes from the cracks in the mountain rocks, carrying heat generated deep within the earth's crust. Temperatures at the source can reach upwards of 80°C (176°F), cooling to a comfortable bathing temperature in the various pools scattered along the mountain slope. The water is rich in various trace elements and minerals such as fluorine, boron, and radon, which are believed by locals and traditional medicine practitioners to have therapeutic effects on skin diseases, arthritis, and cardiovascular conditions. Historically, this site has been a place of healing, where local herdsmen and travelers on the ancient routes would stop to cleanse and rejuvenate.

2.What sets Da Qaidam Hot: Spring apart is its breathtaking setting. The pools are often terraced into the mountainside, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. In the winter or early spring, the contrast is stark and beautiful: visitors can soak in the steaming hot water while gazing up at the snow-capped peaks of Dakendaban Mountain just above them. The steam rising from the pools mingles with the crisp, thin highland air, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. The facility has evolved from a wild spring into a more developed resort area, offering both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as wooden boardwalks that wind through the steam and shrubbery, allowing visitors to explore the source of the springs. A visit to the hot spring is often combined with a trip to the nearby Da Qaidam Emerald Lake (Feicui Hu).
